Book marketing is it so difficult? Let’s put this question to the new authors and no doubt, there reply would be "yes it’s one of the most difficult tasks". Writing is a noble profession and once you gain reorganization in the market, among publishers and readers, you may consider yourself at the top of the world. However, unless and until your work gets published and reaches readers across the world you can’t gain reorganization you deserve for.

The biggest challenge to start with for a newbie author is to find a suitable publisher who can get his work published. Once he or she finds a suitable publisher, the work doesn’t end there itself; instead it is said that the work starts from this point. Once the book gets published another biggest challenge for a newbie author is book marketing. The author cannot just leave it to the literary agent or the publisher to get his work promoted.

Book publishing and book marketing are the two sides of a coin; each side has to be dealt with very seriously. The newbie author has to put a lot of efforts to promote his work, he has to deploy all the ways or means of book promotion whether traditional, new age or innovative. As far as the traditional ways goes, it is in the best interest of the author that he tries to meet different people from the publishing industry and puts light on his work.

More traditional ways of book marketing include participating in different public events, free distribution of some copies to public libraries, college libraries, participating in trade fairs and book exhibits. Internet has opened a world of opportunities for the newbie authors for promoting their work across different blogs, social media sites, publishing sites like twitter, facebook, myspace and various publishing related sites.

Undoubtedly, book marketing is a daunting task; however, persistent efforts in the right direction can definitely yield good results for the newbie authors.
