“Hart of Dixie”: Trials and Tribulations of Zoe

Hart of Dixie is an American comedy drama show which was launched by Leila Gerstein to run over The CW on September 6, 2011. The team was formed for executive producers including Liela Gerstein, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Jason Ensler and Len Goldstein. The series were produced with the production house of Warner Bros. Television, CBS Television Studios and Fake Empire Productions. It premiered in September 26, 2011 and still in run. Number of episodes listed was 2 in one seasons which have 42 minutes of duration.

The story starts with a girl Zoe Hart played by Rachel Bilson who is a new doctor after passing her graduation from a renowned medical school. She wanted to be a cardio- thoracic surgeon just like her father but all her dreams were shattered when she had to accept a random offer from a stranger , Dr. Harley Wilkes to work under him as a small practice in Bluebell, Alabama. She had to shift to small Gulf Coast town to find Harley who passed away so as to collect his medical practice which has been given to her after his death according to his will. She is afraid as the hospitality she received is temporary as the doctors of the town doesn’t share there practice with outsiders and Dr. Brick Breeland is one of them and his daughter, Lemon who turns to cruel girl when she met Zoe. Zoe’s only helpers were the mayor, Lavon Hayes ho is former football player, Wade Kinsella, her neighbour and handsome lawyer, George Tucker. Zoe wants to leave the town as soon as possible but she restrained when her mother visit the town.

During February, 2011 TV Line said Rachel Bilson is approaching to star in the series for new deal. But she was fixed for the show later. After casting her Wilson Bethel was appointed to give his role for Wade Kinsella, Zoe’s gorgeous boy neighbour. After that Scott Porter was called for the role of lawyer, George Tucker. Later in May, 2011 Nancy Travis said she won’t be able to continue with them as she has committed to the 20th Century Fox. Zoe’s mother, Candice Hart’s role was played by JoBeth Williams.

It was called as “Southern Exposure” by TVGuide.com. Robert Bianco of USA Today said the show is highly troublesome to South. The Hollywood Reporter’s Tim Goodman stated that the series is superficial and touching story. TVLine stated it as “Beautiful filmed with warm, cosy tones, the Southern setting utterly envelops the glowing Bilson”. The first episode was premiered in September, 2011 and ended up in May, 2012 with total 1.57 million viewers and second season will start in October, 2012 which will run till May 2013. The show received nominations for People choice awards and Golden Tater Awards.

The format is comedy drama. This appeals attraction of the viewers and gains popularity. It receives positive response from the audience and critics. It is admired by all.
