Fitness Training At Home

FITNESS TRAINING AT HOME

Fitness training at home can be very convenient and liberating. No more would you be shuttling between the gym and home, no waiting in the line for some equipment, no payment of annual gym subscription fees and obviously, you won't have to sit on somebody Else's pile of sweat.

The first step towards setting up your own gym is to designate a strategic spot. Choose a good place such as an old shed at the back of the house, rumpus room, convert part of or the whole basement or even the garage. If possible, choose a room with some fresh air ventilation's. If that is not available, at a minimum, a cooling and heating system and portable fans can be used to provide fresh air circulation. Ensure that there is sufficient lighting. Natural light offered by skylights and windows ignites the exercise spirit and may also offer visual distraction to your fitness training at home.

Once you have settled on the most suitable place, make it look and feel like a gym. Create a typical gym atmosphere by getting a sound system, a mirror to watch your steps and even some inspirational posters on the walls. Bring the same attitude that you normally have in a fitness center to your home gym. Plan your fitness training at home as you would normally do in commercial gyms and follow a daily routine.

When it comes to the initial equipment that can be placed in the gym, you can get a dumbbell and barbell set, an adjustable bench and a platform to get you started. A home-made platform can be an excellent idea. The cheapest and easiest way to achieve this is to use six old car tires of the same size by arranging in two rows of three each with a set of plywood. Nail a few 4 by 2 inches pieces of wood on the platform edge to prevent the barbell from rolling-off. Cover the device with a thin sheet of rubber and there you have the platform ready for fitness training at home.

An adjustable bench will enable you to carry out numerous variations and angles for the chest, abdominal, back and shoulders. If you don't have one straight-way, you can do floor presses; it is a similar exercise as the bench press except for lying down on the floor. Jefferson squats and dead lifts can take care of the legs. If you have some extra cash, get a power rack for your fitness training at home.

A dumbbell and barbell set would allow you to have a full body workout as well as the ability to tighten each muscle group just like in a commercial fitness center. In choosing them, the available space, safety, cost and ease of use are all important aspects to be considered. A standard bar of 1.5m in length would be ideal for individuals who aren't lifting heavier weights. However, for serious trainers, Olympic bar is the best one since they are stronger and heavier with a suitable cross-sectional area, 20kg in weight and 2m in length. Choosing the best bar will make your fitness training at home very convenient
