The Rising Stars Among Latest Smart Mobile Phones

Back in 2010, there was an article on a famous mobile technology magazine that talked about smart mobile phones of that period; the Article mentioned somewhere that Blackberry was the first choice of people looking to buy smart mobile phone in 2010! If you think of Blackberry today, it has definitely lost the aura it had, partly due to mistakes they made internally but more significantly due to rise of new brands of smart mobile phones that ended the monopoly of RIM when it came to making high end devices for corporate users and discerning private users. As a result of that Blackberry has become one of the many smart phone brand compared to what it was just a few years ago.

Today when consumers think of smart mobile phones, Blackberry is usually at the bottom of their list. At the top today are brands such as LG, Samsung, HTC and Nokia. Nokia has an interesting story of rise and fall as well, but the rise of the company is way more impressive than Blackberry. South Korean manufactures such as LG have taken the top spot in many market segments besides the smart mobile phone segment. Since these brands are famous with consumers in lower segments, customers choose a trustable brand when they think of upgrading.


The new players in the smart mobile phones segment offers varied range of smart options for people with different tastes. Apart from a huge variety in the hardware and external configuration, these new brands also offer different software and application sets depending on consumers and their choices. Blackberry’s designs were fundamentally flawed as shown by Apple founder Steve Jobs in one of his famous product unveilings. The keypad design made development and upgrading difficult. It was rigid and no good for any further development even if product designers wished to add some feature to the phone! LG, HTC and Nokia took a much better approach at making smart phone and that has led to their success in the current market scenario.

As one consumer to another, it is better to avoid companies like Blackberry that takes a straight jacketed approach with their products and takes long to realize a rectify their mistakes. Smart phone makers such as LG or HTC a much better choices.
