CAUSES OF INFLAMED COLON

The exact cause for the inflammation in the colon remains unknown; to be exact it still remains in as idiopathic. Some studies have brought up a gene that is a culprit to the condition. This is recognized and named as NOD2. Some researchers report a genetic predisposition to be present to cause the inflammation of the colon.

TEST THAT ARE CONDUCTED IN COLON

Colon Biopsy: Using colonoscopy, a small piece of the tissue can be removed for testing for biopsy. Biopsy will help to find out cancer presence, inflammation or infection.

Virtual colonoscopy: In this test a computer and an X-ray machine where the images of the colon is displayed.

Sigmoidoscopy: In this test, an endoscope is inserted to the rectum and it is advanced to the colon’s left. But the effect is that it cannot be used to examine the middle and right side of the colon.

Stool occult blood testing: It is a test to test the presence of blood. But colonoscopy is required to find out the cause of blood in the rectum.
